The scales differ only in their zero points, so 0°C equals 273.15 K. Use this conversion when a Celsius laboratory or process reading must be entered into a calculation that requires absolute temperature. Values below −273.15°C would convert below 0 K and are outside the ordinary thermodynamic temperature scale.
